ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for volunteers to help us build and grow corporate partnerships that will support the work of Mikaere Foundation. This is a flexible and rewarding role for someone who enjoys building relationships, reaching out to businesses, and playing a part in a mission that directly improves the lives of children affected by NKH (a rare and terminal metabolic disorder). Funding is integral to what we do, and we’re looking for new avenues to raise funds.

You won’t be doing this alone – this is a supported role, though you’ll take the lead. You’ll work closely with our fundraising trustee, and we’ll provide you with key information about our charity, and together we’ll build a strategy, createo templates, messages and proposals. We’d love you to bring your own ideas and contacts to the table.

This role is voluntary and unpaid, but is very flexible. You’ll be helping us build up this income stream from scratch. This is a great way to expand your knowledge of the charity sector and develop new skills.

You’ll be supporting our very small charity team by identifying businesses that might want to partner with us – whether that’s through financial sponsorship, donating items for raffles or goody bags or care packages, offering in-kind support (e.g. printing, venue hire), or promoting our work through their networks. You won’t be doing this alone – this is a supported role. You’ll take the lead, but will be supported by our fundraising trustee to land corporate partnerships.

DUTIES

Corporate/CSR Strategy

  • Working with our fundraising trustee to develop and refine a corporate/CSR Partnership strategy. Help us answer questions such as: What kind of organisations should we partnership with, how do we find them, what can we offer that would be attractive in a partnership, and what do we need?
  • Defining tools and assets we can create to support this strategy (we have asset creation resources, so this would be a definition/feedback/use point).

Identifying and landing potential corporate partners/sponsors

  • Identify and research suitable companies or local businesses to approach
  • Help draft or personalise outreach messages, packages and/or presentations (we’ll provide templates, and work with you)
  • Keep a simple log of outreach efforts, follow-ups, and responses
  • Set up introductions, calls, or meetings where appropriate (we will attend with you)
  • Where possible, help us secure one or more confirmed donations, sponsorships, or business supporters
  • Track outcomes and build long-term sponsor relationships.
PRACTICAL CONSIDERATIONS
  • Minimum age 18
  • Time commitment: we’d estimate 3-7 hours a week. We’re very flexible, and recognise your time is valuable. We’re willing to work around what works best for you.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills and excellent organisational and time-management abilities.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in fundraising, corporate partnerships, sales or a related field is a plus but enthusiasm and a willingness to get involved is just as valued.
