ABOUT THE ROLE

The Mikaere Foundation is seeking a dedicated and passionate Volunteer Grant Reseacher/Writer to join our team. This part-time role is ideal for individuals eager to gain experience in the charity sector, for retirees who wish to contribute their expertise or for someone looking to make a difference.

As a Volunteer Grant Researcher/Writer, you will play a vital role in securing the funds necessary to support our programmes and initiatives. Working alongside our Trustees you will support ongoing grant applications and help build relationships with local businesses to secure funds.

This role is voluntary and unpaid, but is very flexible. Training will be given, and this is a great way to expand your knowledge of the charity sector and develop new skills.

DUTIES
  • Identify potential funding sources, including grants, donations, and sponsorships.
  • Maintain a database of potential donors and funding organizations.
  • Write and submit compelling grant proposals to secure funding.
  • Collaborate with the Mikaere Foundation team to gather necessary information and documentation for grant applications.
  • Track and report on the status of grant applications and fundraising efforts.
  • Ensure compliance with funding requirements and timely submission of reports.
  • Create a calendar of grant deadlines and track submitted funding proposals
  • Help us develop a case for support 
PRACTICAL CONSIDERATIONS
  • Minimum age 18
  • Time commitment: flexible to fit in with your life commitments, but we ask for a virtual meet up every fortnight to discuss grant applications.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills and excellent organisational and time-management abilities.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in fundraising, grant writing, or a related field is a plus but enthusiasm is just as valued.
