Giving in memory of a loved one

We know that your child with NKH must be so very loved – we are very grateful that you are considering honouring your loved one through a legacy or memorial gift.

What is a forever fund?
Typically, all the donations and gifts we receive are used for NKH Research and to support children and families living with NKH. We spend the money we receive, so they can do good right now.

However, some families have donated funds to build a legacy for their loved one. These funds are not spent and are instead invested in perpetuity (forever). The income generated from the forever fund is used support the Mikaere Foundation mission: to give children with NKH a future. It allows continuous, never ending income, in your loved ones honour. A legacy of giving, so we can change the face of NKH across generations, whatever may come.

    Remembering…

    Mikaere Hulance

    October 2016 – August 2024

Thank you to everyone who donated in Mikaere’s honour following his death. It was your generosity that allowed us to set up this initial fund, so that children with NKH will always be supported by the Mikaere Foundation.

    William Hugh Nicolson

    May 1926 – September 2025

Hugh was well loved, with his sharp wit, and unwavering loyalty to his family and friends. He was a keen rambler, rocket engineer, and musician, and devoted to his family. He supported the Mikaere Foundation, as his first great grandson was born with NKH. He’s very much missed.

    Willow James

    December 2025 – January 2026

So very loved, and very much missed by all her whānau across the globe.
